Lover’s Tuna

The title of this recipe was inspired by the Chinese dish, Lover’s Prawns, which is served with two sauces.  This one has a decidely Japanese sushi-esque twist.
Lover's Tuna

Lover’s Tuna

Tuna
1lb ahi tuna (I used Trader Joe’s frozen Yellowfin tuna, which is very affordable)
2 t sesame seeds
1 t kosher salt
1 T oil

Chili Aioli
2 T Sriracha (or other Asian chili-garlic sauce)
1/2 C mayonnaise

Wasabi Guacamole
1 avocado, mashed
1-2 T wasabi paste (I used hot wasabi finishing sauce)
1-2 T soy sauce
1/2 t ground ginger
1 green onion, chopped finely

1.  Mix ingredients for each sauce (separately of course).
2.  Coat both sides of tuna in salt and sesame seeds.
3.  Heat oil (preferably in a cast iron pan) and sear tuna on medium high flame, for 3-5 minutes per side, so it’s still pink inside.
4.  Serve with both sauces on the side.
